NEWTON?Abbot Flower Club welcomed national flower demonstrator, Coral Gardiner from Bath.

As well as being a very talented flower arranger and story teller Coral was very entertaining and a bit of a celebrity too, having featured in BBC’s 2014 Christmas edition of Countryfile.

Coral was also part of the South West team that won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2015.

Her arrangements were inspiring and rich in colour, designed to the theme of ‘nature’s spring palate’.

Using a variety of containers, from a large piece of driftwood to a milk churn, she explained the elements of floral design.

At the end of the evening the stage was a mass of colour with beautifully crafted designs, including smaller arrangements that Coral made earlier.

The members’ subject ‘Pot-et-Fleur’, was won by Rachael Scott and Helen Griffiths.

Each month the club invites a demonstrator to entertain members with the art of flower arranging. Cornish florist Elaine Reynolds will join them on Monday, April 24.

If you have a love of flowers and would like to spend an enjoyable evening watching them being expertly arranged, then a warm welcome awaits you.

New members are always welcome as are any visitors at the Courtenay Centre, Newton Abbot. Doors open 6.45pm for 7.30pm.
