ARTISTS in Teignmouth fear for the future of their centre as plans are being formed to redevelop Brunswick Street.
TAAG has run the arts and community centre in Northumberland Place for the last five years, providing a hub for local artists, workshops, exhibitions and community activities.
In that time, the volunteers have spent time, money and resources in improving and maintaining the building.
Now Teignbridge Council has launched a consultation on a local development order to regenerate the neighbouring Brunswick Street area, including part of the building currently occupied by TAAG.
In a statement, TAAG said: ‘The centre is not protected in this development and we are concerned that this could lead to the redevelopment of the building and subsequent closure of TAAG which we feel will lose a very valuable resource used by so many people.’
