THROUGHOUT Teignbridge the fallen from the two world wars and other conflicts, from the Falklands to Afghanistan and Iraq, were remembered at ceremonies and services on Friday and Sunday. On Friday there were short ceremonies and many communities fell silent at 11am – 93 years to the day that the Armistice was signed at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 to herald the end of the Great War. Remembrance Sunday was marked by church services, parades and wreath laying ceremonies at war memorials, in towns and villages. From youngsters to veterans they came out in their thousands to pay their respects to those who had given their lives in the service of their country.
