The Heart of Buckfastleigh will be celebrated tomorrow (June 16) with awards given to honour people who’ve worked tirelessly for the community.

Buckfastleigh Town Council is organising the summer celebration of the work done, in the town hall from 1pm to 4pm.

The day will start with an opportunity for voluntary and community groups to network, find out about each other and share ideas and plans for the coming year which will help the council’s planning for the next financial year.

The doors will then be open to the public from 1pm and there’ll be free pizza and cake; entertainment; beer tasting; craft activities; and voluntary and community group stalls.

The day will finish with an awards ceremony to honour some of those who’ve been working tirelessly for the community, including a ‘community champion’ which residents have been voting for in recent weeks.

Town Mayor Andy Stokes said: ‘We will be celebrating our town and all the people who do so much for our community, as well as handing out prizes, awards and free food!

‘Everyone’s invited to celebrate the people who make this town a great place to live.’
