TEIGNMOUTH is a great centre for art and creativity, filled with many talented artists, writes Sam Birtwistle, CEO of Voyage Fair Trade.

‘This summer we have had the inspirational Trail on the sea front; Teignmouth Arts and Action Group’s exhibitions in the Beachcomber, many members of the Teignmouth Art Society showing their work in Serenity Gallery, and other galleries in the town displaying artwork of all kinds.

‘And now it’s time for the much-anticipated Devon Open Studios.

‘Pictured are Clare Jenkinson, Virginia Griem, John Skinner and Wendy Hayden-Sadler who are exhibiting in Voyage Art Galleries and in the centre of the group is Jane Branch exhibiting in Figure2 along with Alison Meachem.

‘These are just some of the artists who are taking part in this annual county-wide event, displaying their work and putting on demonstrations in the centre of the Arts Quarter.

‘There are 10 venues that are opening their doors in Teignmouth, some with more than one artist or artisan, and as there is a strong artist community in this town, everyone always encourages people who see their work, to see every venue in Teignmouth as well.

‘Unfortunately, TAAG is unable to take part in Devon Open Studios due to delays concerning building regulations, but they are hopeful for a January reopening.’

Devon Open Studios runs from Saturday, September 10, to Sunday, September 25.

People are able to pick up a free brochure at the venues taking part or go online at devonopenstudios.co.uk for more information.

‘Look out for the yellow signs of Devon Open Studios and spend an enjoyable time being enthralled and inspired by the enormous amount of talent we have in this beautiful area of South Devon,’ adds Sam.
