A £7.42 million package to improve cycling access to Dartmoor has been unveiled although the promise of a new bridge across the A38 Devon Expressway may not be all it seems.

More than half of the cash, £4.37 million, has come from a £94 million government pot to be shared among eight cities and four national parks.

A further £3.05 million will be realised through contributions or works being carried out by bodies including Teignbridge Council, Devon County Council, Dartmoor National Park Authority, the Forestry Commission and the National Trust.

The project will improve 95 miles of multi-use trails such as the one being developed in the Wray Valley between Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead.
