AN education trust is set to make history if it succeeds in a bid to establish Teignbridge's first free primary school.
The Templer Academy Trust wants the £4 million school at Newcross, Kingsteignton, its preferred site.
And if central government agrees, it could be ready inside 18 months.
Abbrook, also in Kingsteignton, is already earmarked for a new school in the Teignbridge Council Local Plan, but it is felt Newcross would be a better option.
Devon County Council has announced it is working on plans for a new school but it could take more than three years.
The bid – the outcome should be known in the spring – is backed by Anne Marie Morris, the MP for Newton Abbot.
