Hundreds of bikers will be riding from Trago Mills to The Den in Teignmouth to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance tomorrow, July 15.

Bikers from across the county and beyond will be revving up for their annual Devon Air Ambulance Motorcycle Ride Out, including live music at their Teignmouth destination.

This year riders will also be departing from Bideford. Having gone to the aid of 58 bikers in 2017, the Ride Out is also an important occasion on which to promote safe motorcycle riding.

As well as live bands there’ll be food at The Den, Devon Air Ambulance’s mascot Ambrose the Bear and a children’s bouncy castle.

The event is one of the most high profile dates on the charity’s calendar and well supported by biker groups. Among the bikers are several former patients who’ve been assisted by the helicopters. Last year 27 per cent of the road traffic collisions attended by Devon Air Ambulance involved motorcycles.

Caroline Creer, of Devon Air Ambulance, said: ‘We’re really looking forward to greeting our riders at The Den.

‘It’s always a fantastic occasion and fun for everyone who takes part or comes along. It’s also a great help to the charity and we’re very grateful to all those who support it.

‘In 2017 it cost £6.4 million to keep Devon’s air ambulances flying.

‘We wouldn’t be able to deliver the service we do without the incredible support of our fundraisers at events like these.

‘It’s also a really fun family-friendly day out, and quite the spectacle to see so many motorcycles assembled. We’re hopeful the weather will remain as fantastic as it has been lately.’
