PRIZES worth up to £3,500 are up for grabs at a school’s summer online auction.

The Friends of Bovey School have been hard at work securing a bumper collection of prizes.

The auction has gone online today, Friday.

Local businesses have rallied behind the cause, donating 40 prizes worth more than £3,500.

They include a weekend break in a cottage at Colehayes Park and spa vouchers for Ilsington Country House Hotel and the Sirona Spa at Finlake.

For the more adventurous, there is axe throwing with Wilderfox, shooting at Budleigh Farm and Crackshot, and wine tasting at Huxbear Vineyard.

Afternoon teas are on offer at Bovey Castle, Home Farm Cafe, Ullacombe Farm, Brookside Cafe, the Moorland Hotel at Haytor, Mill End Hotel at Chagford and the White Hart in Moretonhampstead.

There are family tickets to Canonteign Falls, Becky Falls, South Devon Railway, Powderham Castle and Newton Abbot Racecourse.

Golfers can chose rounds of golf for four.

Sunday roasts have been donated at the Claycutters Arms in Chudleigh Knighton, The Old Inn at Widecombe-in-the-Moor and Cridford Inn at Trusham.

On a more practical level, there is skip hire, a boiler service, 500 litres of Heltor heating oil and lawn treatment.

Other prizes include a cut and blow dry, a family photoshoot and an annual parking permit at Haldon Forest.

Friends of Bovey School Vice-Chair Chris Yeo, who organised the auction, said: ‘We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of local businesses when it comes to supporting our events this year.

‘Twenty-five 25 businesses in and around Bovey helped us put on a quiz night recently which raised £2,700 and another 40 have helped us put together these amazing set of auction prizes.

‘We are incredibly grateful to every single one and are really excited to see how much money we can raise for the school.'

The auction runs until the end of June.
