CHURCHFIELDS Drive residents showed a real community spirit today as they came together to celebrate the King’s coronation.

With the Bovey Tracey road closed, the street soon filled up with gazebos and tables which were laden with every kind of party food, including Pimms’, Union Jack cakes and Coronation quiche.
The day was organised by Lynda and Mandy Smith (no relation) and their husbands Rob and Simon.
Lynda said: ‘There must be more than 100 people here. As well as all this wonderful food, we’ve had a children’s craft table where they could make crowns, pavement artists displays, hopscotch and a pin the crown on Charles game.’
Mandy added: ‘We have been organising this for a couple of months now. It’s not the first one as we’ve held street parties for Wills’ and Kate’s wedding, VE Day and most recently the Platinum Jubilee.’
