A PROPOSAL to cut the opening hours of Bovey Tracey Library has met with opposition from town councillors.

They heard to save money, Devon County Council is suggesting a reduction of six hours per week, down to 15 hours.

Members were told not only would the change be bad for library users but the Information Centre, which shares the space, would become less viable.

Councillors supported a motion calling for current hours to be kept, as a minimum and a working party will look urgently at options for securing the facility’s future.

Library users said it was a ‘great community space’ with numerous activities including Lego club for children, knitting group, sessions for older people to get help with technology.

The library also offers public access to printers and computers.

The consultation runs until February 22 https://devonlibraries.commonplace.is/.../whats-changing...
