IT’S been a blooming marvellous double for Bovey Tracey in this year’s RHS South West in Bloom awards.

Town mayor Cllr Tony Allen announced at a council meeting that the town had won a silver gilt award and was still waiting to hear the results in the parks category which will be reevealed later in the year.

Cllr Allen said: ‘The awards are mainly down to the hard work of two council workers Ron Hubbard and Roger Rance, and resident Roger Taylor, who helped organise the submission.’

Further good news was the award of third place to the Cromwell Arms for its floral display in the South West pubs division.

Cllr Allen added: ‘There are many, many pubs across the south west, so to come third is an incredible achievement. We will be writing to St Austell Brewery to congratulate them on their result.’
