ORGANISERS have taken the sad decision to cancel this year’s Boxing Day RNLI Walk in the Sea festive dip event in Teignmouth.

The organisers say this is due to beach limitations as there is a high tide expected at 10.24am with an easterly wind forecast and they fear they would be unable to host the popular event safely.

The beach conditions have been further impacted by recent erosion caused by the easterly winds.

Wendy Richards-Wood, speaking for the organisers, said: ‘We will refund any donations purchased through our Eventbrite page.

‘We apologise for getting everyone’s hopes up but we must put everyone’s safety first.’
