THE skyline along the A38 will soon be a little different as a landmark disappears.

The former drying tower at the British Ceramic Tiles site in Heathfield is being demolished.

The company collapsed in 2019 and the 17-acre site has been sold to a consortium which is breaking the premises into small units.

The tower, which was visible for several miles, was only suitable for the purpose for which it was built.
