NEWTON Abbot will be ‘buzzing’ tonight (Wednesday) as the town’s second late night shopping event takes place.

A call has gone out to local people to support their local traders.

Sally Henley, Newwton Abbot town development manager, says: ‘It was good to be back in action on Wednesday and shoppers were clearly just as pleased as I was. The car parks were filling up from early doors and there were many people making a beeline for their favourite shops.

‘It was very busy in town during the day and there were also plenty of people out and about in the evening, enjoying the music and the opportunity of extended shopping hours.

‘People are beginning to realise just how important their town centres are and I think the message is really clear that if we want our towns to continue to thrive we must all support those who do business there.

‘There is a real buzz about the town centre and its wonderful to see the Christmas lights and the lights on too in all of the shops, cafes, restaurants, hair salons and other businesses which are welcoming their customers back.

‘Those who might have missed out on our late night shopping will also have the opportunity to come out on 9th and 16th when many shops will be open later and of course we will be giving away our seasonal face coverings and hand sanitisers to shoppers as a thank you for ‘shopping locally’.
