CULTURE Secretary Maria Miller was in Newton Abbot on Wednesday to catch up on progress in the £94 million pound Connecting Devon and Somerset broadband programme.
She visited Greycoat Lane, Forches Cross, to see the latest roadside cabinet being installed.
Since the scheme was launched last year, CDS has installed 79 others across the two counties and made the high-speed technology available to more than 18,000 homes and businesses.
By the end of July the project will have reached 70,000 premises and the government has said a further £22.75 million will be made available to ensure that all of Newton Abbot, Ashburton, Ilsington, Kingskerswell and Bovey Tracey, as well as other communities, can soon enjoy the facility.
