COASTGUARDS in Dawlish are reminding boat owners to make sure their vessels are in good order.

The advice follows an incident involving a boat which ran aground at Dawlish Warren.

Dawlish coastguard volunteers were alerted and on arrival at the Warren, made sure the crew on board were safe and other water users were clear of the area.

Exmouth RNLI lifeboat escorted the stricken vessel into the River Exe once it was refloated.

A spokesman for Dawlish Coastguards said: ‘Now we are coming into the summer months and using watercraft becomes more appealing, please make sure your craft is in good condition, safe to use and that you are confident in your ability to use it.

‘Remember to bring your phone or VHF radio as a means of communication.’
