THERE was enthusiastic backing for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

It is estimated that more than 50,000 people across Devon supported Friday's event – some were also held during the weekend and this week.

It is believed more than 900 coffee mornings were staged in the county – it is hoped the fundraising target of £130,000 for Devon was hit – and there was plenty of support from the Teignbridge area.

Calvin Lovelock, Macmillan's fundraising manager for east, mid and south Devon, thanked all those who organised and attended the events.

'We have received phenomenal support from the community again,' he said.

Mr Lovelock added that the Newton Abbot area had always been a hotspot for raising money and this year was no exception.
