TEIGNMOUTH is celebrating after its main
beach met tough new water quality regulations.
There were fears that pollution might have
meant a ‘fail’, prompting signs to go up on the
prom warning against swimming in the sea.
That would have had a catastrophic effect on the
tourist trade, but now businesses, councillors and
residents are heaving a collective sigh of relief that
the nightmare scenario has been avoided.
