SURESTART of Teignmouth and Dawlish has donated a minibus to Dawlish Community Transport.
The keys were officially handed over on Friday.
Tim Collins, SureStart programme manager, said: 'Unfortunately, public transport in the area is not the best and SureStart recognised that Dawlish Community Transport was doing a good job bringing the public to various services we have on offer and decided to work with them by donating a minibus.
'It will initially be used to bring parents to some of the events that we are running, for outings to raise levels of awareness of what is on offer in the county and for fun trips as well.
'It is currently being used by a maternity care assistant to pick up mothers to be and taking them to various events. When it is not being used by SureStart it is available for organisations in the community to use.'
Mayor of Dawlish, Cllr Wally Protheroe, said: 'It is wonderful that SureStart are able to provide a bus like this to the Dawlish Community.'
Mr Collins continued: 'Doing this sort of thing is part of the whole underpinning and ethos of SureStart. We are not about taking over things, we are about supporting things already in existence and it is great that we can do that.'
