THE iconic ‘Teignmouth’ sign seen by millions of rail passengers, has been given a facelift.
Situated at Sprey Point alongside the main Paddington to Penzance line, the Toblerone-shaped triangular prism which has stood there for decades, was looking worn and tatty, and a poor advert for the town.
So a group of volunteers walked along the seawall at the weekend with paint, brushes and scrubbers to spruce up the letters.
About 40 turned up which meant the facelift only took about an hour, instead of the estimated three hours plus.
