A TEIGNMOUTH composer has just written a new choral/orchestral work to mark the centenary of the first world war.
Voices of Remembrance, by Laura Rossi, features ten of the most famous poems of the era, read by Vanessa Redgrave and Ralph Fiennes, with music by The Chamber Orchestra of London, and vocals by RSVP Voices.
She previously scored the Imperial War Museum film, The Battle of the Somme – which has just been digitally remastered and rereleased – and while researching the battle discovered that her great uncle Fred, who she knew and is pictured on the cover of the album, was a stretcher-bearer attached to the 29th division in July 1916.
