A RIGHT royal barney has broken out over the cost of the queen's diamond jubilee jamboree on Teignmouth Den.

Town councillors and others are busy organising one of the biggest knees up the town has seen for some time, but one councillor fears the budget is 'spiralling out of control'.

The comment by Cllr Paul Burgess sparked heated exchanges at a council meeting on Tuesday, and was strongly refuted by some colleagues.

He demanded to know how much was being spent, but the chairman of the events committee, Cllr Dave Matthews, responded that it was impossible to give an exact figure yet because they were still finalising the programme.
