A CHARITY overseeing the construction of a new community space for the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor are hundreds of pounds better off thanks to a Coronation day fundraiser.
Sue Jones, Jane Bibby, Judy Southcombe, Mary Down and Phillippa Gimlett organised several food and drink stalls on Widecombe Green on Coronation Day in a bid to raise money for Widecombe Community Hall CIO.
The food and drink on offer proved popular, for the foursome managed to raise more than £400 for the charity.
Widecombe Community Hall CIO were the grateful recipients of a donation of £472.
A spokesman for Widecombe Community Hall CIO said: 'It made it all the more special and gave an opportunity for lots of people to meet and enjoy food and drink before the firework display in the evening.
The same amount raised for Widecombe Community Hall CIO was also given to Leusdon Memorial Hall.
