RESIDENTS in Teignmouth will be able to keep warm thanks to a new Cosy Club which has been set up.
As temperatures plummet, Kingsway Residents Association has formed the club, a warm ‘hub’, for people who may be struggling to heat their homes due to soaring energy prices.
Refreshments will be provided including hot drinks, cakes and biscuits.
Cosy Club was set up with a small grant from Devon County Council and donations of mince pies from Shaldon Bakery and tea from HITS foodbank.
Teignmouth county councillor David Cox said: ‘As the cost of living crisis forces more people to make difficult choices between heating and eating, I applaud the community groups, churches and charities looking to help.
‘Teignmouth has an amazing community spirit.’
The Cosy Club will be held in the Kingsway Meadow Centre on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm and Thursdays from 10am to noon.
It will provide people with a safe place to stay warm, socialise and have a hot drink.
It is hoped the club will complement the other warm hubs running across Teignmouth at the Baptist Church, Alice Cross Centre and St James Church, which starts in January.
Staff will be on hand to signpost people to advice and support services if needed.
