TEIGNMOUTH has frozen its council tax after some 'juggling' with the town council budget.
It prompted veteran councillor Fred Tooley to declare: 'That's brilliant. I think taxpayers will be over the moon.'
Members backed down from a proposed three per cent increase after realising it would cause enormous resentment among hard pressed residents suffering from escalating living costs.
The hike was originally approved at a behind closed doors meeting, but councillors soon realised the backlash it would cause, went through the budget again, and managed to keep it the same as last year – £250,000.
