TEIGNBRIDGE Council leader Cllr Jeremy Christophers has drawn up £2 million plans to expand his Ashburton care home business and build a six-bedroom house for himself in the grounds.
Cllr Christophers' family has run St Andrew's House, West Street, since 1987.
They took on the dilapidated vicarage and created a residential home which, in 1996, was extended to 24 beds.
In 2008 planning permission to expand further was granted by Dartmoor National Park Authority but the option was never taken up.
Now Cllr Christophers has submitted fresh plans which include increasing the number of residents to 32 and the construction of a detached six-bedroom property for him, his partner and their five children.
