TEIGNMOUTH'S main beach may be under future threat from pollution, but it has not stopped it winning an award.
Unless the pollution is reduced next year, it will be classed as 'poor' under the new stricter European regulations, and 'stay out of the water' signs will have to be erected by law.
But under current legislation, the beach has qualified for a Seaside Award, by Keep Britain Tidy, which signifies it is well managed with a good range of facilities, and the sea and sands meet cleanliness standards.
