A DERELICT, eyesore ‘grot’ shop on the main road into Teignmouth should be compulsorily purchased, maintain two councillors.
The former Tesco One Stop store in Bitton Park Road, has lain empty and deteriorating for about five years.
Many residents claim it is a very poor image for visitors entering the resort, and some neighbours fear the dilapidated state of the building is affecting their property values.
Now two west ward members, Cllrs David Cox and Terry Falcao, say they are going to ask for a compulsory purchase order to be made, and the property demolished to make way for affordable homes for local families.
