Three members of staff at the Mid-Devon Advertiser series have helped to raise £175,000 for Rowcroft Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.The women, Leanne Skinner, Theresa Roberts and Julie Ferguson, who all work in accounts, took part in the 13-mile Big Midnight Walk in Torbay at the weekend, along with 2,000 others.The Advertiser team raised more than £800 and had a great time to boot, despite the threat of heavy rain.Leanne, 25, said: 'It was brilliant, fabulous. It was quite challenging but thoroughly enjoyable.'It was cold, but had stopped raining so we were chuffed at that. I think if it had been wet the atmosphere could have been very different.'We raised £835 in total, which is brilliant. We took part just to give something back.'Driving home the message that every penny counts, she said to the team's sponsors: 'Thank you very much indeed, now pay up!'Hannah Simmons, Rowcroft fundraising manager, said: 'The whole spirit and feel of this event is truly indescribable, there is such a strong sense of community spirit and people coming together for a common cause.'A huge congratulations to all our walkers for completing the 13 mile trek and for raising such a phenomenal amount of money.'
