DEVON County Council’s consultation on its proposals to pass the responsibility for funding school crossing patrols to individual schools, ends today.

Discussing the matter at its monthly meeting on Monday, Chudleigh Town Council considered it was ‘unacceptable’.

Members believe the county council should continue to fund the service pointing out that the cost of around £200,000 was pretty minimal in the scheme of things across the county.

If the county council does not provide the funding, schools will have to fund it themselves or withdraw the service.

In Chudleigh, children are faced with crossing the busy B3344 at the top of Lawn Drive.
