Devon Guild of Craftsmen is to get a 23 per cent Arts Council England funding boost.

The guild, based at Riverside Mill, Bovey Tracey, has announced that from 2012-2015 it will receive a total of £470,000.

Meanwhile, 200 arts bodies are losing all their Arts Council funding and others face cuts of 15 per cent or more.

Erica Steer, guild director, commented: 'We are delighted that our application to the National Portfolio Programme has been successful. This is a tremendous endorsement of the work that we do to promote contemporary craft and support makers.'

She said that the grant will enable it develop its exhibitions and education programme.
