A CYCLIST escaped unhurt after being in collision with a car on the Newton Road at Kingskerswell.

The accident happened at 8am today (Fri) at the junction with Coffinswell Lane, near the Sloop Inn.

A police spokesman said the bike was damaged, but the rider was not hurt.

The vehicle involved was a plain red van which did not stop, with the driver possibly unaware that a collision had occurred.

Police said inquiries into exactly what happened were continuing.
