Anyone who knows me will vouch for the fact that I am accident prone. I am forever tripping over or hurting myself in some way, shape or form, writes DAWN ELLIS.

So when the opportunity came up for me to try out dry slope skiing at Torquay Alpine Ski Club, Barton, with submariners from HMS Triumph, there were a few raised eyebrows. It's safe to say my colleagues in the office were confident I'd come back bruised and battered.

Luckily I proved them wrong...

When I first got the offer of going along to the slope I was excited, but on the way to the club anxiety and fear slowly crept in.

Thankfully Nigel Simmons, from Abbotskerswell, who is on the club committee, and Adam Cliff, from Kingskerswell, who is a senior ski instructor, put my mind at rest and assured me that injuries were few and far between – especially with novices having an instructed lesson.
