A TEIGNMOUTH woman may have contracted an aggressive form of cancer while working as a switchboard supervisor at a hospital.

Lawyers are now trying to see if the late Jean Cooper was exposed to deadly asbestos dust while the old Wonford Hospital was being built in Barrack Road, Exeter, in the early 1970s.

She died in November, a little over a year after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, and associated with exposure to asbestos.
