IT'S been a long wait, but young footballers in the Teignmouth area finally have a home again.

The youngsters were turfed off their Broadmeadow pitches more than a decade ago when the ground was put out of bounds because of leeching contamination from an old rubbish tip underneath.

It meant the highly successful club has had to play all its 'home' matches on a variety of other fields. If the situation had gone on for much longer, Broadmeadow ST could have folded.

But now a £420,000 complex is ready for the new season, and Michaels Field adjoining the main Newton Road at Bishopsteignton, will be opened on Sunday.
