TEIGNMOUTH Action Group is celebrating a small,. but important, victory in its battle to inform Teignmouth residents about possible development at Teignmouth Quay.
Bob Shaw, TAG member, has been trying to extend the consultation period, by writing to the Department of Transport, in order to allow as many interested parties in the town to find out about the plans and object or agree accordingly.
The Government has now granted that extension so now the final date of consultation (the date that objections have to reach the department of transport by) is now February 21, not January 30.
Bob said: 'This extension has been brought about entirely by the action of our group.'
TAG placed a newspaper advertisement outlining the details of the revision order last week which contained a slip for residents to fill in their feelings about the plans.
Bob said: 'The response was staggering. we have had about 60 so far sent back and considering they had to put a stamp on it and get up and post it that is incredible.'
The large response prompted Bob to ask Teignmouth Town Council if he could speak at the next finance and general purposes committee meeting, which was on Tuesday night.
'The town council needs three days' notice for any public participation on an issue not on the agenda, but Bob has been invited to apply in writing to the council to speak at the meeting on February 4.
TAG is now appealing for anybody with either literal or presentation skills to help with the creation of a formal objection to the port's revision order.
Those interested can contact Bob on 772465.
