AFTER a very busy year across the county, Devon YFC released the 2022 figures for the YFC’s charity donations.

Overall, the Devon Federation of YFCs donated a staggering £175,000 over the course of 2022. Within that, the South Devon group contributed over £41,000, with Newton Abbot YFC events putting in £1,600. This was raised through a variety of events, from BBQs to breakfasts, tractor runs to pantomimes.

Of the money raised by Newton Abbot, £1,400 went to Devon Air Ambulance and £200 went to the Farming Community Network.

Devon YFC’s Vice Chairman Dan Grist said: ‘Raising money for charity is such an integral part of the Devon Young Farmers’ Programme and we are so proud that our clubs raised over £175,000 last year.

‘Each of our clubs chooses numerous local and national charities to support. Whether it’s sponsored bike rides or holding local bingos and quizzes, so many of our members get stuck in to raise as much as possible. Fundraising is already underway for this year, so if you see a Young Farmers event in your area, please do support it!’
