A LEADING motoring organisation has voiced concerns about plans by highways chiefs to establish a DIY pothole-filling scheme in Teignbridge and the rest of Devon.

The RAC has reacted critically to a suggestion from County Hall that an amateur road gang of trained volunteers could be drafted in to fix some of the minor kinks in the county's pock-marked highways and byways.

The national body has been less than complimentary about last week's revelation, featured in the Mid-Devon Advertiser series, that savings could be made by extending Devon's 'road warden scheme'.
