VANDALS are setting fire to palm trees and rare ferns in a Teignmouth public garden.
Now the Friends of Eastcliff have posted notices in the Dell at Eastcliff, appealing for the trees to be left alone.
The small ferns came from New Zealand, and a larger palm tree was planted 100 years ago as a gift from Belgian first world war refugees, who were taken in by the town.
