A 65-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving after a crash in Buckfastleigh.

All three emergency services were called out after the driver's car ended up 12ft below the level of the road in Hamelin's Way.

The motorist had to be cut from his vehicle after it became wedged between a 5ft wall and a block of flats on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters from the town and from Ashburton used hydraulic spreading equipment to free the trapped driver after the alarm was raised at 3.30pm.
