AN ASDA truck driver was airlifted to hospital after his 40-tonne truck flipped over on its side in Teignbridge early today.
The casualty, who suffered ‘serious’ leg injuries, was taken by ambulance to the RD&E Hospital at Exeter before being airlifted by Devon Air Ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.
The accident, which also involved a Mercedes estate, happened at 2am on the westbound carriageway of the A30 at Cheriton Bishop.
The juggernaut was expected to remain in situ for most of the day as efforts are made to remove it.
A police spokesman said: ‘There is likely to be traffic disruption until the lorry is recovered from the scene.’
The Mercedes driver, thought to be from the Falmouth area, was not hurt.
