DUCKS kept by a homeless man in Newton Abbot town centre have been seized by police and the RSPCA.
The pair of ducks were an eye-catching distraction for thousands for shoppers in the town’s Courtenay Street.
But some expressed concern about keeping them in a public place in the wake of avian flu restrictions involving poultry.
‘They just should not be there,’ one complained.
The authorities were tipped off last week and the ducks show ended with police duly seizing
the ‘pets’ and placing them in the care of the animal charity.
Homeless Russ O’Connor, whose ‘perch’ was at the entrance to Market Walk, said he was upset that his birds had been taken from him.
