YOUNGSTERS at a Teignbridge primary school were treated to a live theatre performance.
Children at Dunsford Community Academy watched MED Theatre perform Locked In The Library when performers visited the school
The story followed a girl named Mia, who had to prove she had read several books before she could be let out, introducing pupils to a range of well-known characters including Toad, Heidi, and The Grouchy Ladybug.
Staff said the children were captivated by the performance, enjoying the opportunity to experience live theatre and storytelling in a familiar setting.
MED Theatre is a Dartmoor-based community theatre charity, working with people in rural areas to create original productions inspired by local history, ecology, and culture.
The visit was part of Dunsford Community Academy’s commitment to providing opportunities for pupils to experience the arts and develop their cultural understanding.
The school also runs a popular drama club, giving pupils further opportunities to explore performance and creativity.
Liam O’Sullivan, headteacher, at Dunsford Community Academy, said: ‘We’re very grateful to the MED Theatre team for creating such a fantastic experience for our pupils.
‘They were completely absorbed in the story and loved meeting the characters.
‘Opportunities like this help spark creativity and bring learning to life in a really memorable way.’
Tracey Cleverly, CEO of Learning Academy Partnership, said: ‘It’s wonderful to see pupils enjoying live theatre in their own school.
‘Experiences like this play an important role in broadening horizons, supporting creativity, and helping children develop confidence and cultural awareness.’
