PUPILS?from Moretonhampstead Primary School have been learning a thing or two about survival skills.

The Year 6 youngsters (pictured) had a training day at Fernworthy Reservoir with former Marine Commando and survival trainer Gary Duckworth.

They learned about survival kits, used walkie-talkies to solve code-breaking challenges, learned how to collect resources for fires, how to start them and to keep them going.

Teacher Dave Poulsom said: ‘It was a fascinating and memorable day and the sense of pride from the children when they succeeded in maintaining their fires was wonderful to see.

‘Many thanks to Gary for putting together an amazing day and offering the children such a unique experience.’
