TODAY is race day in Dawlish with an action-packed line-up of events ahead of tonight’s elite cyclists taking to the track.
The Dawlish Grand Prix is the last in the Lloyds National Circuit Series which sees the best riders in the country in town for the final round of the prestigious British Cycling Series.
Dawlish has been chosen for the first time as the final host town.
Alongside the thrill of the professional racing, there is a host of events going on throughout the day on the Lawn and The Strand.
Roads will be closed until 10pm but buses are being allowed through.
There are carnival games going on in the Kidzone, BMXX stunt riders performing behind The Bandstand and performances from the Crazy Foot Tappers with vintage and vaudeville sing-a-longs and music hall songs.
A free, family and community vintage bike ride will take place along the 1km route, led by the Mayor Cllr Anthony James at 1pm.
Children’s races start at 2.10pm.
The circuit opens at 6.30pm for the cyclists to warm up with the elite women’s racing starts at 7pm and the open race at 8.05pm
The award ceremony takes place on the Grand Prix stage at 9.30pm.
