HOPES are high for the pitter patter of Black swan feet as two of the town’s iconic waterfowl have laid an egg.

This time is it young breeding pair Rosie and Bluey, or Mr Blue and Mrs Pink as they are also known, who have made a new nest upstream on the Brook.

One egg has been seen so far on the nesting site opposite the old post office building.

The sighting comes after the pair’s previous eggs were washed away during recent storms.

This time, the pair have built their nest on slightly higher ground.

Meanwhile the older, more established pair of Bert and Kimba have been busy mating too.

During the mating season, the birds are very territorial and fiercely protective of their mate.

Bluey and Bert have been seen sparring on the Lawn.
