This summer the Palace Theatre in Paignton will host an unforgettable adaptation of one of Christie’s most captivating murder mysteries - Towards Zero.
Bijou Theatre Productions has delighted audiences with an annual Agatha Christie play at the Palace since 1984 and this year is no exception. Towards Zero started life as a novel and was widely regarded by critics, and by Agatha Christie, as one of her finest and most ingeniously plotted works.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Gull’s Point, the seaside residence of Lady Tressilian, the story invites you into a house party. The intrigue begins not with a murder, but with the intricate web of dilemmas, grudges, and tensions simmering beneath the surface.
As tensions rise, the stage is set for a chilling exploration of human emotions that leads to a shocking and brutal murder.
Bijou director James Mackenzie-Thorpe said: “Rehearsals have gone brilliantly well and I can't wait for the public to see what this talented cast can do. The biggest problem we have had in rehearsals is that everyone gets on too well. But on stage, when the light are dim and they are waiting for the curtain, this wonderful cast really knows how to ramp up the tension!”
Maureen McAllister , Operations Director at the Palace Theatre: added: “Incredibly, this is the 42nd season of Agatha Christie plays that Bijou Theatre has presented here and we are incredibly proud of this long-standing connection.
“We expect to welcome Christie fans from around the UK and across the globe to see Towards Zero. Fifty years after her death, she remains the world’s biggest selling novelist of all time, and her works have been translated into 103 languages. You don’t get much bigger than that!”
This thrilling production of Towards Zero, is now running at 7:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until July 30. Tickets are priced from £15 and can be booked at www.palacetheatrepaignton.co.uk.
