Fans of Teignmouth band The Quails have left countless tributes on social networking site Facebook after the group announced they had split last week.
Last Wednesday, the band posted on their page: 'The Quails have had a hell of a journey over the last five years. We've met some awesome people, we've had some incredible experiences. We would like to say a massive thank you to every single one of our fans and everyone who has supported and helped us along the way. Sadly we have decided to go our own separate ways, big love, Dan, Sam, Chris and Max xxxx'
More than 60 fans have left messages of support.
The band – Dan Steer, Max Armstrong, Sam Banks and Chris Prentice – were one of the south west's top bands.
The quails supported Muse on their homecoming gigs on The Den, Teignmouth, in 2009 and Motorhead at the Bikers' Bulldog Bash.
They have also played numerous festivals in England and abroad, including Glastonbury and Reading.
One of the main highlights was a one-off show where they played to more than 1,000 fans to launch their second album Master of Imperfection at the English Riviera Centre, Torquay, last year.
Their manager Sarah Woodward said that the band had worked hard and it had been amazing experiences.
'It's very sad that they have split,' she said.
'There have been some lovely comments on Facebook. They've played at some amazing venues and got some wonderful memories from being in The Quails.
'Being in Devon it was never going to be easy for them and going to London all the time, which is where it's all happening musically, was always going to be difficult.
'Only two guitar based bands got signed to major record labels last year, so breaking out and getting signed was never going to be easy.
'All the guys will be continuing with music in their own way, as it is their passion.'
