IT'S a much over used phrase, but Teignmouth carnival was probably 'the biggest and best ever'.

Thousands poured into the town for the highlight, the grand procession followed by live bands and a spectacular firework display.

With 74 entries, the parade was so long, the front runners were almost back at The Den before the back markers had started.

An exhausted Shane Maryon, the carnival committee chairman, described it all as 'awesome', and few would disagree.

She could not find enough adjectives to sum it all up; 'fantastic, amazing and stunning', were a few more, and she heaped praise on all those who took part, helped, watched or sponsored, and even the town council were given a pat on the back.
